KEY to the CITY
Taken in Huntington Beach California
During the Hurricane Norbert swell. I was on the Southside of the pier about 40 yards from the pier.
The current was moving fast, really fast! After I took this shot I came up under the pier! Luckily I missed the pilings. I chased this shot for years. I was excited to get home to see if I finally got it. I had a good feeling.
There it was! I think I’ll name it Key to the city!
STAY COVERED
Days like these are what keep bringing me back. Beautiful skies, nice clear water, perfect conditions, and a little time to melt into the ocean blue!
We are all from the sea, so its naturally alluring. Waves are a big component to that allure. Watching the waves roll in has a calming effect on the human psyche. It provides us with a place to recharge and unwind. With so many variances in shape, size, color, and texture its easy to understand why we are drawn to them. Which one do you like best ?
The lifestyle here in sunny Southern California is fast paced, so its nice to unwind a bit and enjoy the abundance of scenery it has to offer. Sunsets bring everyone back to earth. Its cool to see people gather along the coast to catch one last glimpse of our beloved orb. If you've ever witnessed one of the SoCal versions you'll know that they are absolutely breathtaking!
Landmarks make great backdrops and piers fit into that category. They provide long shadows and excellent reflections which are great for photography. So if you like to take walks on them or just like the way they look you'll enjoy the view from here!
